If not for the information embargo from the manufacturer, then I would start with reviews in the new 2022 from this car. And what? Quite worthy! The new generation of the Lexus LX SUV is the object of desire and desire for many people who can afford it. But is there anything to wish for, is there anything to dream about? We get acquainted with the novelty in the format of "first glance", focusing not so much on small details as on the first general impressions.
The first Lexus LX appeared back in 1996. And now, for a quarter of a century, the car has not changed itself: it is a large SUV created on a frame, without fail with large engines and permanent all-wheel drive. Now what? First, the car is still very large. The new Lexus LX is 5.1 meters long and almost two meters wide - in these parameters it has become much larger than its predecessor (take a look at the Lexus LX 2022 Lexus LX for 570 review). But the wheelbase remained unchanged: the front and rear wheels share 2.85 meters. As a result, we can say that the entire increase was due to?
Partly so, but the design demanded it. The novelty is simultaneously unmistakably recognizable as the Lexus LX, but also unmistakably stands out against the background of the previous generation of the car. At the front, not so much thanks to the adaptive LED headlights with Blade Scan function, but thanks to the “Frameless” grille: now there is no edging around the perimeter, the wide cross bars seem to live on their own. And the main noticeable detail behind, perhaps, are the massive lights with a red jumper between them. By the way, an interesting detail: there is no logo on the back, instead of it - the inscription "Lexus". If anyone else dares to doubt ...
The new Lexus LX is clearly different from the old one and, at the same time, unmistakably recognizable from the point of view of belonging to the brand. The car is 5.1 meters long, 1.99 meters wide and 1.9 meters high. For the novelty, 20 or 22 inch wheels are offered. So: first off, the Lexus LX is a big SUV…
And secondly, the new generation of Lexus LX is still built on the frame and gets powerful engines. But here we are not waiting for evolution, but almost a revolution: the new Lexus LX completely inherits its previous approach in general, but changes dramatically in details. From now on, the car is built on the GA-F platform, which provides for a new frame (for example, the shape of the profiles has changed for a new rear suspension layout) and a combined body: the main elements are made of steel, but many hinged panels are already made of aluminum. The result is impressive - with an increase in external dimensions and increased structural rigidity, the car has become 200 kg lighter!
But here's an unexpected twist: the classic naturally aspirated V8 engines have been replaced by V6 turbo engines. At the moment, two versions of the SUV have been announced. So, the Lexus LX 600 implies the use of a 3.5-liter V35A-FTS gasoline engine, which develops 415 hp. power and 650 Nm of torque. A modification of the Lexus LX 500d is built around a 3.3-liter F33A-FTV turbodiesel with 299 “horses” and 700 Nm of torque. Along the way, the gearbox has also changed. From now on, a 10-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission is used with an extended range of gear ratios (the ratio between the lowest and highest gears) relative to the previous 8-speed “automatic”: it was 7.1 - and it became 8.1. This promises us more traction at the start, more dynamic acceleration, improved efficiency, etc. Of course, permanent all-wheel drive is used here and there is even a lower row. Plus off-road “assistants” in the form of a Multi-Terrain Select system (four modes for 4H and three modes for 4L), a ground clearance of 200-205 mm (depending on wheel size), an Active Height Control system for choosing the height of the body position and much more .
Everything is the same, but everything is different. As before, a frame is used - but with a different profile. The body is made of steel, but with aluminum outer panels. Under the hood, V-shaped engines are still installed, but now 6-cylinder ones. How will all this play out in action?
During the presentation of the car, a diesel version of the Lexus LX 500d fell into the hands. Well, so much the better: good fuel efficiency and quite sufficient dynamics - anyway, we are not talking about the “race”. And taking into account the test r
