Every week we collect in mailings what you wanted to know about, but were afraid to ask
We take off our hats to those who know how to wear them, and try to repeat after them, having previously studied 20 facts about hats.
The hat is one of those accessories that even the most elegant men are often afraid of. If many do not dare to wear a butterfly, because they do not know how to tie it, then they do not take risks with hats only because, in principle, few people are wearing them now, which means that there is always a danger of being branded as a black sheep at best, and an ignoramus at worst.
But they don’t wear it in vain. It is difficult to think of a hat more suitable for spring than a good old felt hat. And for the summer, straw is ideal, you know. It is not for nothing that street style heroes in Florence, Paris, Milan and London will certainly appear at Fashion Week in a hat, combining it not only with a suit, but also with completely everyday looks.
We take off our hats to those who see this headdress not only in the series "Peaky Blinders", but also in the reflection of the mirror, and, trying to be like them, we tell you everything you need to know about hats. So that you will definitely start wearing them.
The main material for the production of hats is felt. It is made from different types of wool. Good hats usually use rabbit or beaver down, while the most expensive ones can be made from exotic materials such as New Zealand red deer wool. All other materials  Kitenge Designed Men\'s Hats are not so good, with the exception of, of course, the Ecuadorian cane summer hats. But synthetic or even cotton hats are for teenagers, not for you.
A felt hat is a solid thing and requires appropriate clothing: a coat or jacket, leather shoes. Do not wear with a down jacket and sneakers. It's better not with jeans either, unless you're Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones.
Today, not many styles of classic men's hats have survived. Among those that can be worn by a modern man are fedora, homburg, porkpai, bowler hat and top hat.
1. Homburg 2. Cylinder 3. Pot 4. Fedora 5. Porkpay
The top hat is the most formal hat imaginable. Now they are worn except at the weddings of British aristocrats. So, if you are not going to visit the queen in the near future, you will hardly need a top hat.
By the way, the top hat is one of the few classic hats that are not made of felt; cylinders are usually made of silk or satin.
The bowler hat, or derby, is the favorite hat of British bank clerks and, oddly enough, American railway workers of the second half of the 19th century. Now they are almost not worn - they look too old-fashioned. In addition, bowlers were very often something akin to a helmet: they had a rigid frame, they were also worn for hunting, in order to provide protection from a branch whipping along the forehead.
To wear a bowler hat now, it is desirable to be an elderly British with a good pedigree, no less.
The next official hat is the homburg. Perhaps the most serious hat you can wear every day. The Homburg has a crown with one indentation at the top and the brims bent upwards, trimmed with a ribbon. This is a solid hat to wear with a business suit, cashmere coat, or something equally formal. Get a dark gray, dark blue or black Homburg - and you can even at the reception, at least to the opera, at least to the races.
